Bone Conduction Headphones are Great for Situational Awareness

ree

I have used bone conduction headphones for many years and they are great more certain use cases. Because they do not block your ear canal, like tradtional headphones or ear buds, they allow you to hear your immediate surroundings. This make them good for working out in the gym (not tripping on people near you) or for running or working outside.

Shokz (formerly AfterShokz) are good deal for the price (I have had multiple pairs and used them virtually continuously and in some harsh conditions).

The sound quality is good and the battery life is great. They are good for taking phone calls.

While I have not tried the Shokz OpenFit 2, I am intrigued by the form factor and the 48 hours of play time. If you have tried these, plese let me know.

Currently, I primarily use hearing aids (mine are not great for listening to books or music) or the AirPods Pro 2 (also has a hearing aid feature, noise cancellation, and many other features).

The AirPods Pro 3 (I have not tried these) has a live translation feature that sounds intriguing. I really like my Airpods and will likely upgrade to the 3 (or latest version) when I replace my current set.
